Perforce Licensing

You can download and use any Perforce software product free. All Perforce software you download is fully functional, with the exception of the Perforce Server, which allows only two users and five client workspaces when used without a license. A Perforce license enables the Perforce Server to support more users and an unlimited number of workspaces. It also entitles you to Perforce Technical Support.

The Perforce End User License Agreement (PDF) is our standard license.

Free Evaluation

If you fill out and return our Evaluation Agreement (PDF), we will supply you with a free limited-term license that will let you evaluate a Perforce Server with as many users as you specify. You have full access to our Technical Support staff during the evaluation period.

Commercial Pricing

Pricing for commercial licenses, including one year of support and upgrades, is as follows:

Notes:

  1. Your first purchase includes a one-year price lock.
  2. The per-user price is based on the cumulative number of users purchased, not just the number in any one order, provided that a single End User License Agreement and the same customer billing address govern all purchases.
  3. Perforce's per-user licensing limits the number of distinct users who can access the Perforce Server. Perforce does not limit access based on concurrent access: old users must be explicitly deleted from the system. There is no license manager to administer.
  4. A portion of the license purchase price includes telephone and email support, and software upgrades for the first year.
  5. Subsequent purchases will have the support/maintenance portion prorated to match the first purchase anniversary — ensuring that all users are coterminous for support renewal on the same license.
  6. At 250+ users, support can be priced separately per designated technical contact, rather than per-user. Contact us for more information.
  7. These prices are firm and require that you execute our standard End User License Agreement.
  8. Perforce can accept euros (the currency of the European Monetary Union) in payment for products or services. To obtain a price quote in euros please contact us.

Educational Pricing

Bona fide educational institutions may be eligible to receive a Perforce license for use by students for classroom or research purposes. The number of users is not limited, but each designated technical contact will be charged $4,000.00/year.

Execution of an End User License Agreement for Educational Users (PDF) is required. The license will be issued for a one-year term, and can be renewed thereafter via the same means. Contact us for more information.

Free Licensing for Open Source Development

Organizations developing software that is licensed or otherwise distributed exclusively under an Open Source license may be eligible to obtain Perforce licenses gratis. This includes upgrades but not support.

Perforce Software reserves the right to approve the Open Source license; those fitting The Open Source Definition, including the GNU and FreeBSD licenses, are good candidates.

Ordering and Payment

We require an executed Perforce license agreement. Download our End User License Agreement (PDF), or other agreement as appropriate (or contact us and we can email, fax, or postal mail it to you). Once you've filled it out, fax it to us, together with your payment information.

Perforce Software accepts payment by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, check, money order, or a purchase order from an established company with credit history.
